Escape to the islands…well, island tables at least

OK, so maybe you thought that this blog was about a fabulous vacation island getaway, alas you were only partly correct.  An island table can be many things to a kitchen; extra seating, ample legroom, or additional attached or detached counter space.

This island table is at a table height with a metal support leg.  In a long and narrow kitchen this table creates a horizontal extension of the island, creating this table has allowed the customer to retain an eat in kitchen area.

Here we see that the designer of this island table has mixed medium counter coverings, the main island in a man made solid surface, while the lowered island table is a warm recycled timber slab.

Instead of a traditional island with a sink, appliance, or storage, here we see a true island table at counter height with modern clean lines reflected in material and design.  The use of benches, instead of chairs or stools creates a unique feel to this island table.

A large slab of marble was used to connect two island surfaces in to one.  The lower marble island table is supported by an equally impressive thick marble support column.

If you have limited space, this island table gives you you the best of both worlds, a usable storage and prep space on the traditional island and a seating area defined by a knee space and a waterfall counter-top made of Corian.

While, island tables can be both modern and traditional, this island definitely encompasses modern sensibilities with clean lines and an insane custom made table support leg imported from the Snaidero company in Italy.  This piece is an absolute show stopper.

This floating island table anchored by the utility kitchen island in this residence is quite a wonder, the design uses two steel beams that create the needed support to hold the wooden table top.  This type of application would be prohibitive if using a heavier material, like granite, marble, or any man made stone.

Creating a unique and stylish island table to incorporate in your kitchen design can be contingent on your available space and budget, but it can be done, with ingenuity and creativity.  Come in to our showroom soon and lets discuss your kitchen project.
